TNW Magazine, a digital magazine that has been downloaded by more than 43.000 users and saw more than 116.000 reading sessions in October alone, is now available for the Android platform, and is specifically optimized for the Nexus 7.

The beautifully designed and content rich magazine was already available in optimized form for the iPad, iPad Retina and iPhone platform. After many requests from the Android community the publisher has decided to spend the extra effort to make a dedicated Android version.

Publishing for the Android/Google Play store is both easier and harder than publishing for the iOS platform. It's easier because publishing content is a much more straight forward process, and the magazine is available instantly after publishing.

However, the Android platform did pose some unique challenges. The iOS platform seems better equipped to deal with interactive elements and embedded content. This means that the magazine is designed for the iOS platform first and then stripped of some functions to also work on Android.

Of course we expect the platform to mature over time and one day to offer the same features and possibilities as the iOS platform. The enormous growth and potential of the Android platform is very exciting and The Next Web is excited to be able to offer its products for this growing group of information consumers.

Android Nexus 7 owners can download the TNW Magazine app and issue v0.10 and issue v0.09 from the Google Play store, for free. All future issues will have an Android optimized version as well.
